GRID CONNECT

QUESTION:

What do you need?

ANSWER:

The components of a Solar grid feeding system are simply solar modules and a Grid Inverter.

All you must supply is a structurally sound North facing roof, preferably with clear sun access between 10am and 3pm.

QUESTION:

Is there any maintenance?

ANSWER:

Generally NO. If you live in a particularly dusty area, you may have to give the solar panels a quick rinse down after an extended dry spell but this is very rare. Most popular brand solar modules carry a 20 year warranty with a 5 year warranty on the Orion Inverter and 2 years on the Novastar.

QUESTION:

What happens when grid electricity fails?

ANSWER:

The law states that a Solar Grid Feed system must disconnect within 1-2 seconds of the mains electricity failing, this is done for safety reasons. The system will automatically disconnect and reconnect shortly after the mains electricity is functioning again.
